This publication is a generous compendium, a flexible manual, a manifest on movement in the work of artist Mateo López (Bogotá, 1978). López addresses themes including chance, time, craft, oral histories as research, and daily happenings. His conceptual practice explores cartography and travel, and his work ceaselessly and methodologically references the act of making. It spans from drawing and installation to architecture, film, and performance—across each medium histories and materials overlap and intertwine.
The book contains an interview of the artist with writer and curator Manuel Cirauqui and a collective of artists, curators and designers, formed around the Eina Idea program in Barcelona, as well as an essay by researcher and curator Julien Petit.

Meeting and dialogue between the artist Tadanori Yamaguchi and the curator Ángel Antonio Rodríguez around the concept of "hatsuru" and the project "Sozai Tataku"_Apertura Madrid 2023.

As part of the Apertura Madrid Gallery Weekend program, Benveniste Contemporary, together with the artist Michel Pérez Pollo and the curator Luis Sicre, opens the exhibition, titled VIACRUCIS on Saturday, September 16 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Viacrucis is a set of fifteen photogravures, presented in a book/artist case based on the series with the same name painted by the renowned Cuban artist between 2014 and 2019.

The editions consist of 12 numbered samples and 2 artist proofs.

With this work the artist has focused on rethinking and re-elaborating the general concepts of the tradition of abstract art and faith. He has appropriated the geometric to transform it into organic and essential. He has spoken with Malevich, Mondrian, Jean Arp and Josep Albers, as did Sol LeWitt, Frank Stella, Donald Judd, Dan Flavin or James Turrel before. Finally, he has drawn attention to the interesting sociocultural processes that contemporary art generates today when it is located in places beyond its field of action.
